Sisters and Brothers,
On November 9, the National Organization of Industrial Trade Unions (NOITU), IUJAT held its National Convention. I would like to congratulate NOITU on a successful event and especially congratulate its newly elected officers. NOITU and IUJAT have been affiliated since 2006, but NOITU has been a respected force in labor since 1953, when it was founded. For more than half a century, this union has had a rich history of improving the lives of its members through its excellent representation, dedication to hard work and integrity, innovation in organizing and its respect for its members.
At the Convention, National President Gerard Jones was re-elected to his position, which has been elevated to the number one position within NOITU. I would like to congratulate President Jones and commend him on his excellent leadership of this organization; I am confident that, under President Jones and his team, NOITU will continue to thrive in the future.
In his convention speech, President Jones gave a tribute to his mentor, and my dear friend, Danny Lasky. Mr. Lasky has stepped down from NOITU’s top post of National President Emeritus Elect, but will continue as a National Trustee. For over sixty years, Mr. Lasky has been the leader of NOITU. He led this organization honorably and deserves the credit for its successes over the years. It is gratifying to me to see my good friend Danny Lasky taking more time for himself at this stage in his life. He will always be a presence and force in the NOITU organization, but with President Jones at the helm, the future is bright for NOITU.
I am proud to have NOITU as an affiliate and gratified to have its leadership as my friends. The best of luck to everyone at NOITU. We’re proud of you.
Steven R. Elliott, Sr.
