Home Healthcare Workers of America

The Home Healthcare Workers of America (HHWA) is part of the International Union of Journeymen and Allied Trades (IUJAT). Established in 1874, the IUJAT is one of the oldest labor unions in continuous existence in the United States. The HHWA is a National Union representing home healthcare workers who have joined together to achieve better wages, benefits, and working conditions in their industry.

The HHWA represents tens of thousands of workers in the tri-state area who have gained job security, protection from unfair termination, guaranteed pay, time off, and benefits. The HHWA represents the fastest growing segment of the IUJAT, making the HHWA one of the most successful National Unions in the country.

It is the mission of the HHWA to change the playing field for all home healthcare workers and ensure they get the respect they deserve on the job. This begins by pressuring the government to recognize home healthcare workers as skilled workers and pay them accordingly. The HHWA is committed to ensuring these valuable workers and their industry receive the compensation they deserve for the important work they do.

All of our contracts have resulted in improved terms and conditions of employment for our members. As part of the IUJAT family, our members become part of the most innovative, fastest growing union in the nation. Our success is driven by aggressive, local organizing campaigns and affiliations with other independent organizations. Our history of effective representation and commitment to organizing has made our union a powerful voice for our members.
